Ear Protection

Yesterday, my brother-in-law and his family came over to do belated Christmas and play Wingspan. There were a lot of people in the house, and I started to feel overwhelmed.

I have some silicon ear filters, Calmer by Flare Audio, but I’ve misplaced them. They’re somewhere in the house, just not where they’re supposed to be. I have a pair of over the ear noise canceling headphones, but I feel self-conscious when I wear them.

I decided to put on my cans, and I’m glad I did. I calmed down, I was able to socialize and play, and no one gave a shit. I guess the lesson is to take whatever accommodation is at hand to help with your disability, and that I’m the only one who cares how I look.
