Slacker defense

A few defense lawyers inverted the arguments of the prosecution to assert that the Germans' authoritarian mindset and obedience to the state exonerated them from any personal guilt.

Seems a little crazy to make the defense be “our culture values authority and obedience therefore we are not responsible for our actions.” What about the German slackers, the ones who didn’t value authority or obedience. Would they be guilty?
