Present vs. Past
“If one assumes that people are beings who can change, a set of values based on etiology becomes untenable, and one is compelled to take the position of teleology as a matter of course”
If people are creatures of free will, then we are able to change, and if we are able to change, then the causes of our behaviors aren’t in the past, but the present. Therefore we should use teleology over etiology.
