Often when I was writing, I felt like I had gotten into some sort of flow state, where the words were just coming and I was just jotting them down as they came, not that I was conscious so much of composition but more recording what I “heard”.

Follow that up with the best way to write is to write a rough draft where you ignore the editor in your head and dump your thoughts out, and then use your editor to shape and mold what you created. Get the stuff from the right hemisphere and edit it with the left.
