Inferiority
“Incidentally, Adler is thought to be the first to use the term “feeling of inferiority” in the kind of context in which it is spoken of today.
YOUTH: Huh, I didn’t know that.
PHILOSOPHER: In Adler’s native German, the word is Minderwertigkeitsgefühl, which means a feeling (Gefühl) of having less (minder) worth”
The feeling of inferiority leads to two paths: one where you achieve a feeling of superiority by improving your situation; and one where you become competitive with those around you in order to feel more superior. Competition leads to strife and conflict.
